This unique location provides access to some spectacular wildlife sightings with the King of the Arctic being an obvious highlight. With informative presentations throughout your stay, you depart a few days later an expert on the wildlife of the north (with hopefully a few sightings under your belt as well)!

Day by day

Day 1

Arrive Winnipeg

Arrive in Winnipeg and relax in preparation for your early morning flight to Churchill tomorrow. This evening you will meet the group and your adventure specialist at dinner (about 6pm) and let the anticipation build for your polar bear safari…

Day 2

Winnipeg - Seal River Heritage Lodge

You will then transfer to a fixed wing aircraft or helicopter for your exciting flight over the historic Churchill River, then northwest over Hudson Bay to Seal River Heritage Lodge. Keep an eye out for the local wildlife such as caribou, moose, seals, wolves and, of course, the Great Ice Bears.   Upon your arrival, your hosts will provide a tour of the lodge and get you settled into your room. A thorough orientation on travelling in polar bear country will be provided prior to any outings. Tonight, make sure your cameras are fully charged and memory cards have ample space ready for your adventures tomorrow.

Overnight: Seal River Heritage Lodge (B, L, D)

Days 3-5

Seal River Heritage Lodge

The heart of bear country is a photographer’s dream; ideally located on the shore for capturing unforgettable shots of bears, ice and ocean. There are also an exceptional number of clear nights here too - perfect if you wish to capture the incredible Aurora Borealis (Northern Lights) on camera. You can expect your time here to be filled with trekking from the lodge and there are lots of trails to follow.   Gourmet meals are served at times accommodating photo opportunities and you can expect a few of your meals to be interrupted as bears pass the windows for unmissable shots. Generally, breakfast is served at 8:00 am, lunch as required; with appetizers at 6:00 pm followed by a veritable feast for the palate at 7:00 pm.   Evenings are spent near the fireplace downloading images, sharing the stories of the day's adventures or taking in an informative lecture or slide show. The entire lodge area is patrolled for polar bears all night by one of our night watchmen so be prepared to have your sleep cut short by a nocturnal visit by one of the Great Ice Bears (or by the dazzling displays of northern lights!).

Overnight: Seal River Heritage Lodge (B, L, D)

Day 6

Seal River Heritage Lodge - Winnipeg

We recommend local places such as Cape Merry, the Port of Churchill, the Eskimo Museum, the Polar Bear Holding Compound as well as the Parks Canada exhibit which are all of great interest. Dog sledding and helicopter charters fit nicely into this afternoon if you’re so inclined. You will have a choice of Churchill restaurants for an early dinner and will be provided with a $30.00 dinner voucher, on which participating restaurants will be listed. After dinner you will be met and escorted to the airport in preparation for your flight back to Winnipeg.

Day 7
