Day 1

Ushuaia - Drake Passage

Today you arrive in Ushuaia and board the Ocean Nova in the afternoon. This evening you set sail along the Beagle Channel towards Puerto Williams, Chile, the southernmost town in the world. After a brief exploration you set sail towards the Antarctic Continent.

Days 2-3

Drake Passage

The next 2 days you will sail across the famous passage named after Sir Francis Drake, the great 16th Century British explorer. During this famous crossing there will be a program of lectures and presentations; join your expert expedition team in the observation lounge or on deck spotting seabirds; huge albatrosses and petrels follow in the wake of the ship and on occasions whales are spotted on the migration to the nutrient rich waters of the Antarctic Ocean. As you cross the Antarctic Convergence, there is a noticeable change in the environment. Make sure you have your camera nearby as you see icebergs and the first sightings of land. With a good drake crossing there may be a landing opportunity on day 3.

Days 4-7

South Shetland & The Antarctic

Each day you will travel to shore by Zodiac in search of Antarctic wildlife. Enjoy the company of curious penguins in colonies that number in their thousands; seals sun themselves on ice floes and shorelines, and whales are often spotted. There is no set itinerary on this voyage and flexibility is the key to success in Antarctica. The following are some of the places that you might visit: Paulet Island, Hope Bay, Port Lockroy, Petermann Island, Paradise Bay, Deception Island, the Lemaire Channel, or many other magnificent places.

Days 8-9

Drake Passage

The next two days are spent heading back to the South American continent. Relax and reminisce on the sensational few days spent in Antarctica whilst admiring the sea birds that continue to follow the ship.

Day 10

Disembarkation in Ushuaia
