Day by day

Day 1

Punta Arenas - Puerto Williams

From beautiful Punta Arenas, jump on a flight to Puerto Williams where the Polar Pioneer will be waiting to welcome you. Sail out into the Beagle Channel and get to know your fellow explorers.

Overnight: Polar Pioneer D

Days 2-3

Drake Passage

This is where the adventure you dreamed about starts to feel like a reality, as you set sail across the notorious Drake Passage with excitement in the air. Look out for the wandering albatross, and various other seabirds that will follow the ship on her journey.

Overnight: Polar Pioneer B, L, D

Day 4

Weddell Sea

With access to the Weddell Sea being totally dependent on ice conditions, this is where your sense of adventure and flexibility will be called upon. If all goes to plan, you will sail through Antarctic Sound as massive tabular icebergs drift through the bay around you. The scale of these icebergs really does have to be seen to be believed.

Overnight: Polar Pioneer B, L, D

Days 5-6

Weddell Sea

Even though the shifting pack ice dictates the schedule for the next couple of days, you’ll be in one of the most beautiful and remote places in the world, and you’ll be snapping away taking photographs of the vistas wherever the ship sails. Possible stops include the Adélie and Gentoo penguin colonies of Brown Bluff or Paulet Island, hiking to beautiful vantage points on Beak and Devil Islands, or exploring the islands of the Prince Gustav Channel.

Overnight: Polar Pioneer B, L, D

Days 7-9

Antarctic Peninsula

As you sail towards the Antarctic Peninsula’s western islands, your onboard team will make the most of the almost endless daylight hours and ice-free waters to explore this pristine region. You’ll visit historic huts on abandoned wild islands, look out for whales breaching between icebergs, and photograph seals sleeping on ice floes.

Overnight: Polar Pioneer B, L, D

Days 10-11

Drake Passage

This is your opportunity to catch up on some photo editing, listen to the experts present on the places you’ve just visited, or watch the petrels, and prions swoop around the decks as you sail back towards Ushuaia. Enjoy a final dinner on board as you sail into the Beagle Channel.

Overnight: Polar Pioneer B, L, D

Day 12

Ushuaia

This morning, disembark in Ushuaia after an early breakfast and head to the airport or your hotel depending on your onward plans.
