Day by day

Day 1

Arrive Quito

Today you will arrive into Quito, the capital city of Ecuador, and transferred to your hotel. Make sure you drink plenty of water as you adjust to the high altitude, as you will be staying 2,800 metres above sea level! The rest of the day is yours to relax or explore this incredible colonial city.

Day 2


After breakfast this morning you will meet up with Doug Allan, award-winning wildlife photographer and videographer and your guide for the next nine days. Doug will be on hand throughout your trip to help you improve your photography skills and share stories from his illustrious career. Today you will enjoy a half day tour of Quito, a UNESCO World Heritage Site that features some of the finest examples of colonial architecture in Latin America. Wander through the streets of the city's old town, stopping to admire and photograph the historical sites such as the Cathedral and President's Palace. After your tour, the rest of the day is at leisure.

Day 3

Quito - Galapagos

An early start this morning as you transfer back to the airport for your flight to the Galapagos Islands. Arriving into Baltra, you will be met by a local representative and transferred to the Infinity luxury yacht - your home for the next week. Settle into your cabin before heading for lunch and an introductory briefing with your crew and naturalist guides. In the afternoon you will visit Black Turtle Cove in the northern part of Santa Cruz Island, a nesting ground for marine life including reef sharks, sea turtles and a variety of rays. Return to the yacht for dinner and your first night on board.

Day 4


This morning you will head to Genovesa Island for a visit to El Barranco or "Prince Phillip's Steps", a rocky pathway up to a cliff face from where you can enjoy marvellous views over the surrounding landscapes. In the afternoon you will head to Darwin Bay, where you will head off on a hike through wildlife-rich mangrove forests, home to Nazca boobies, red-footed boobies, great frigate birds and swallow-tailed gulls. Further along the path you will come across tidal pools where sea lions and marine iguanas can often be seen. Doug will be on hand throughout to help you capture the perfect shot of the islands unique wildlife.

Day 5

Santiago Island

Your wildlife photography tuition continues this morning as you travel to Sullivan Bay, located on the southeast coast of Santiago. This area is fascinating for its geology and impressive lava tubes, providing great photo opportunities. Return for lunch on board before heading out to visit Rabida Island in the afternoon. Rabida is one of the most colourful and volcanic islands in the archipelago, with red sand beaches and waters which are great for snorkelling. Many of the Galapagos' rarest species can be found here, including nine varieties of finches, Galapagos hawks and brown pelicans.

Day 6

Santa Cruz

This morning you will make a landing on Santa Cruz Island to visit Fausto Llerena Tortoise Breeding Centre. The centre is home to tortoises ranging from three inches to four feet long, with infant tortoises kept here until they are strong enough to survive on their own in the wild. In the afternoon you will explore the El Chato Reserve, where you can observe giant tortoises in the wild. The reserve is also a great place for spotting short-eared owls, Darwin's finches, yellow warblers, Galapagos rails and paint-billed crakes. Finish the day off with a well-deserved drink on the deck of your yacht, and the chance to discuss all things wildlife with Doug.

Day 7

Santa Cruz

Continue your exploration of Santa Cruz today with a visit to Dragon Hill, where you can clearly see the different distinctive vegetation zones and can observe land iguanas and Galapagos flamingos. Afterwards you will join your naturalist guides for an excursion to Bachas Beach, a sea turtle nesting area and great snorkelling spot. In the evening, return aboard the Infinity for a freshly prepared dinner under the stars.

Day 8

Floreana Island

Today you will join Doug and your guides on Floreana Island, where you will visit the historic Post Office Bay. During the 18th century, whalers would use a wooden barrel as a mailbox from where passing ships would collect letters and deliver them to their families back home. The custom still continues to this day, so don't forget your postcards! In the afternoon you will take a hike to Cormorant Point, a saltwater lagoon which is home to flamingos. You will also get to swim in the clear waters of the Devil's Crown, an extinct volcano just off the coast of Floreana which offers magnificent snorkelling opportunities. Sea lions, marine iguanas and Galapagos penguins can all be seen here.

Day 9

Española Island

Española Island is the southernmost island of the Galapagos archipelago and a birdwatchers paradise, being the breeding site of nearly all of the waved albatrosses in the world as well as home to mockingbirds, boobies, finches and Galapagos doves. Start the day off with a visit to Suarez Point, before heading to the white sand beaches of Gardner Bay for a stroll amongst the islands busy sea lion colony. Back on board your yacht, enjoy a final meal on board and reflect upon your Galapagos adventure.

Day 10

San Cristobal - Depart

The final stop of your Galapagos adventure will be the Interpretation Centre on San Cristobal Island, where you can learn about the regions natural history and the conservation efforts that take place on the islands. After your visit, bid farewell to Doug and your fellow travellers before being transferred to the airport for your flight back to Ecuador, in time for your international flight home.
