Day 2

San Jose - Poas Volcano

After breakfast you will set off to the Poas Volcano, one of the most spectacular volcanoes in the country, with its enormous crater measuring 1.5 km in diameter and 314 metres in depth. In addition to the volcano, the Poas National Park is a 9,884-acre reserve with rich tropical vegetation and animal life. If weather and time permits, the visit can also include a hike through the surrounding forest which is teeming with typical plant life and exotic birds, finishing at a restful, emerald green, tropical lagoon. You will also visit the La Paz Waterfall Gardens, a private reserve featuring five waterfalls, hiking trails and animal exhibits.

Day 3

Today you will transfer to the Sarapiqui region of Costa Rica (approximately 2.5 hours), a region characterised by it's winding waterways and lush rainforest.

Day 4

Rafting the Rio Sarapiqui

Tortuguero is one of Costa Rica's best known national parks, and not without good reason. Besides protecting a 22-mile stretch of idyllic beach that is one of the largest and one of the continent`s most important green turtle nesting grounds, it also serves as a refuge for other turtles, such as leatherbacks, and hawksbills. Tortuguero`s surrounding network of rainforest and canals are also home to manatees, crocodiles, tapirs, jaguars, monkeys and sloths - a true tropical wildlife haven.
