Sao Paulo – Cuiabá – Northern Pantanal

On your arrival into Sao Paulo, you will connect with your short domestic flight connecting you to Cuiabá. You will be met at the airport by your guide who will transfer you south to Pocone, the start of the Transpantaneira Highway. This is a 145-kilometre-long dirt road that leads south through the heart of the Pantanal, ending at the Cuiabá River in Jofre. As you begin your journey on the Transpantaneira, you will start to see families of capybara, pools filled with caiman, raptors soaring through the skies, and flocks of waterbirds; let your wildlife safari begin! En route to the lodge you will have the chance to stop and enjoy the many lakes and streams which are packed full of animals. This afternoon, enjoy a shared activity and in the evening head out on a safari drive to put you in the right place at the right time for optimal wildlife viewing.

Overnight: Araras Eco Lodge (D)

Day 2

Northern Pantanal

With one full day to explore the region, you will enjoy morning and afternoon activities accompanied by an expert naturalist guide, setting out into the wild wetlands of the Pantanal. Explore the waterways with a canoe, or follow your guide on the trails that depart from this small family ranch, teeming with wildlife. This is a great way to get off-road and head deeper into the marches, forests and grasslands in search of the animals.

Overnight: Araras Eco Lodge (B, L, D)

Day 3

Northern Pantanal – Jaguar Viewing Area

Today you’ll have the opportunity to enjoy one last morning activity and a chance to spot caiman, tapir and giant anteaters. After lunch, you continue your adventure by taking a private transfer to the Panoramico Houseboat, after continuing south down the Transpantaneira Highway to Porto Jofre. En route you will have the chance to stop and enjoy the views and look out for the resident wildlife. Jaguars are often found along the final 35 kilometres of road before getting to Jofre, so keep a keen eye glued to the road for possible sightings.
