Day by day

Day 1

Belize City - Cayo District

After arriving in Belize City, you will be met and transferred approximately three hours to Cayo District where you have a chance to relax and recuperate after your flight, and what better environment than in the heart of a 365-acre private reserve along the banks of the peaceful Macal river.

Overnight: Chaa Creek Lodge B

Day 2

Cayo District

After waking in your brilliantly natural thatch-roofed stucco cottage, you’ll enjoy a tour of the nearby ruins of Xunantunich, which is one of Belize’s most well known Mayan sites. The site is located on the banks of the Mopan River and features a series of large plazas which are ringed by pyramids, including El Castillo which stands at 40 metres high, making it one of the tallest Mayan structures. After exploring the site, you'll visit San Ignacio, which will not disappoint those who love the outdoors, with a range of exciting cave systems nearby and optional activities in the sub-tropical rainforests such as canoeing, horse riding, birdwatching, hiking or swimming under waterfalls.

Overnight: Chaa Creek Lodge B

Day 3

Cayo District - Mountain Pine Ridge Reserve

This morning you set off for the Mayan village of San Antonio where you'll experience the Mestizo culture, a mix of Mayan and Spanish people and traditions. Here, live people from two Mayan tribes, the Mopan and Yucatec. San Antonio is also noted as being the home of Dr Ejido Panti – Belize’s last Shaman.

Overnight: Chaa Creek Lodge B, L

Day 4

Cayo District - Orange Walk

This morning you will take your short 30-minute onward flight to Chan Chich. This is an excellent eco-friendly destination in the heart of La Selva Maya, an area of pristine rainforest that provides a sanctuary for flora and fauna. Your lodge encapsulates the magic of the jungle, and once you have checked in, you can explore the various trails or take some of the optional tours such as walking safaris, bird watching, night walks, canoeing, fly fishing or horse riding. This is also said to be the best area of Belize for spotting the elusive Jaguar.

Overnight: Chan Chich Lodge B, L, D

Days 5-6

Orange Walk

Such is the natural beauty and tranquility of this area you will have two days to fully explore. There are around 9 miles of trails which can be hiked with the aid of a guide from the lodge. You may also want to take some vehicle excursions, including visits to the wetland habitat at Laguna Seca or even visit La Milpa, which is a Mayan site located nearby. Those who prefer to relax than Jaguar spot and enjoy the charming accommodation and extensive grounds, that really make you feel as though you are at one with nature.

Day 7

Orange Walk - Ambergris Caye

After a relaxing few days in the rainforest and nature of Chan Chich you will catch a short 45-minute flight to Ambergris Caye, the main island on the stunning cayes of Belize and the gateway to the vast barrier reef and atolls that are home to abundant technicolour marine life. We recommend asking for a window seat on your flight to Ambergris as the birds eye views of the azure sea waters, coral reefs and clear lagoon can be stunning. You will spend the remainder of the day settling into your relaxing resort set in lush tropical gardens and looking out over the turquoise waters.

Overnight: Victoria House B

Days 8-10

Ambergris Caye

With three days to fully explore and unwind in the tropical paradise of the beautiful cayes at the end of your natural world safari into Belize, we recommend discovering some of the marine life that includes manta rays, nurse sharks and dolphins. Popular sites include Hol Chan Marine Reserve and Shark Ray Alley, and you can either dive or snorkel the waters. Alternatively the pristine beaches of Ambergris Caye are some of the most unspoilt in the Caribbean and there is also a Mayan ruin on Ambergris itself.
