Day by day

Day 1

Arrive Colombo - Anuradhapura

On your arrival into Sri Lanka you will be met and assisted to board your private charter flight to Anuradhapura, in the islands northern region. From here, you will be met by your driver-guide and transferred to your hotel nearby. The remainder of the day is at your leisure.

Day 2

Anuradhapura & Polonnaruwa

Rise early and head out for a full day’s exploration of the ancient cities of Anuradhapura and Polonnaruwa, Sri Lanka’s first and second capital cities, respectively. With ancient stupas, pagodas, Buddha Statues and monuments dating back thousands of years, you can choose to walk or cycle around these historic sites, marvelling at the culture and engineering work of the cities.

Overnight: Ulagalla (B)

Day 3

Sigiriya & Minneriya

Formerly the fortress palace of King Kassapa who assumed the throne in 477 AD after murdering his father, little remains of the palace itself but foundations at the summit. The climb to the summit is not difficult and there are ancient frescoes to view in a sheltered alcove midway through the climb. Later this morning continue southwards to Kandy where you spend the next two nights at The Kandy House located 30mins out of town.

Overnight: Ulagalla (B)

Day 4

Wilpattu National Park

Today you will be driven an hour to Wilpattu National Park, Sri Lanka’s oldest park. Wilpattu, also known as the land of lakes owing to its many ‘willus’, is one of the best locations for spotting leopard in Sri Lanka, and its 'off the beaten track' location means many sightings can be enjoyed all to yourself. Spend the day in the park on a private jeep safari before returning to your hotel. With some luck, you may encounter elephant, sloth bear, deer, crocodile, a diverse array of birdlife and the majestic Asiatic leopard.

Overnight: Ulagalla (B)

Day 5

Ulagalla - Hatton

This morning you will fly by seaplane south to the tea plantations of Hatton, landing on Castlereagh Lake. Flying across a third of the country, you will get superb views of the ecosystem changing from flat and semi-arid farmland to verdant green hills blanketed with tea bushes. On arrival in Hatton, you will be transferred to your bungalow where a welcoming cup of tea or signature gin and tonic will be waiting to greet you. The remainder of the day is at your leisure.

Overnight: Tea Trails Bungalows (B)

Days 6-7

Spend the next two days exploring the tea plantations around Hatton. Other than some time exploring a working tea factory, most of your time here is yours to explore at your own pace; walk or cycle through the plantations, or simply relax by the poolside.

Overnight: Tea Trails Bungalows (B, L, D)

Day 8

Hatton - Weligama

Today you will take to the skies once more, for your charter flight south to the coast at Weligama Bay. On arrival, you will be met and transferred to your hotel, the luxurious Cape Weligama, overlooking the Indian Ocean.

Overnight: Cape Weligama (B, L, D)

Days 9-12

Yala National Park

Spend the next few days relaxing by the Indian Ocean at your luxurious hotel. During your time here, you will have the opportunity to explore the historic Galle Fort, with noticeable Dutch, Portuguese and British architectural influences, the perfect spot for strolling on a warm afternoon before sundowners on the fort's ramparts.

Overnight: Cape Weligama (B, L, D)
