Escape to the serene and beautiful foothills of the Himalayan mountains on this relaxing safari to northern India. Starting off in Corbett National Park, discover the diverse wildlife of the region in India’s oldest national park, searching for Bengal tigers, Asian elephants, leopards and more in the dense forests. From here, head up to the hills of Narendra Nagar for some relaxing wellness treatments at one of India’s best ayurvedic retreats, set within the Narendra Nagar Palace estate overlooking the Ganges river valley. Continue on through the stunning mountain landscapes to the UNESCO World Heritage site of Chandigarh, and explore the picturesque hillside town of Shimla, the former summer capital of the British Raj.

Day by day

Day 1

Arrive Delhi

Arrive into the capital city of Delhi where, after passing through immigration, you will be met by our local representative and transferred to your hotel, where you can relax following your flight.

Day 2

Delhi - Corbett National Park

This morning you will be met and driven (approximately 6 hours) to Corbett National Park, in the far northern state of Uttarakhand. You will arrive at your luxurious hotel by lunch, situated right on the outskirts of the national park overlooking the Kosi River. In the evening, embark on a nature walk along the river to acquaint yourself with the surrounding landscape, before returning to your hotel for a refreshing cup of tea.

Days 3-4

Corbett National Park

The next few days will be spend exploring the national park, with morning and afternoon game drives with your expert guide. Corbett National Park is the oldest national park in India, stretching over an area of 520 square kilometres comprising hills, marshes, grassland and a large lake. Corbett is known for its biodiversity and healthy tiger population, and is a birders paradise with over 650 species of resident and migratory bird species recorded.

Day 5

Corbett National Park - Narendra Nagar

Wake up early this morning for your final game drive in the park, before being driven (approximately 6-7 hours) to the Himalayan city of Narendra Nagar. Check in to your luxurious spa resort, situated in the Narendra Nagar Palace and offering commanding views over the valley below, and relax following your safari.

Days 6-7

Narendra Nagar

Your next few days will be spent at leisure in your spa resort, enjoying the many spa and wellness treatments available. Ananda In the Himalayas is one of the best ayurvedic retreats in India, situated in the Narendra Nagar Palace in the foothills of the Himalayas, surrounded by beautiful Sal forests and overlooking the Ganges river valley. Ananda combines the traditional Indian wellness practices of Ayurveda and Yoga with international treatments to create a personalised therapy and activities programme to help you relax and de-stress.

Day 8

Narendra Nagar - Chandigarh

After a leisurely breakfast you will be driven (approximately 6-7 hours) to the city of Chandigarh. Chandigarh was one of the earliest planned cities in post-independence India, and is internationally renowned for its architecture and urban planning. The Capitol Complex, designed by Swiss-French architect Le Corbusier, was designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2016.

Day 9

Chandigarh - Shimla

This morning you will enjoy a short sightseeing tour of Chandigarh, before being driven to Shimla (approximately 3.5 hours). En route, you will catch a train from Kandaghat to Shimla, to appreciate the stunning views as you pass through the Himalayan foothills to the scenic hillside town of Shimla.

Days 10-11


You will have two full days exploring the hillside town of Shimla, the former summer capital of British India. The town is perched along a 12km ridge, surrounded by steep forested hillsides on all sides. There are a number of interesting colonial buildings to visit, including the Viceregal Lodge which was once the home of the British Viceroy, as well as the winding main street and bustling, narrow alleyways of the bazaars. You can also go for a hike along the peaceful forest trails, wandering through the pine forests that surround the town.

Day 12

Shimla - Delhi

Following a leisurely morning, in the afternoon you will be driven (approximately 3.5 hours) to Chandigarh airport, where you will board your flight to Delhi. Upon arrival in Delhi, you will be met and transferred to your hotel in the city.

Day 13

Depart Delhi

Today is your final morning in India; bid farewell as you are escorted to the airport to board your international flight home.
