Led by multi-award winning wildlife photographer and TV presenter Jonathan Scott, the face of the BBC’s “Big Cat Diary”, and expert naturalist guide Michael Lorentz, you will also be joined by a team of conservationists, videographers and astronomers on this exclusive safari to Luangwa National Park. With abundant wildlife, including lions, wild dogs and over 400 species of bird, Luangwa is renowned for being one of the best wildlife sanctuaries in Africa. Staying at the luxurious Mfuwe Lodge, you will also become acquainted with the famous Mfuwe elephants, the resident elephant family who can often be seen strolling through the lobby!

Day by day

Day 1

Arrive Luangwa

Upon your arrival at Lusaka International Airport, you will be met and assisted with your onward flight to Mfuwe, where you will be transferred to Mfuwe Lodge. The drive takes approximately 45 minutes, as you travel through local villages and into the national park. Relax into your accommodation before joining your guides for a welcome talk. After dinner, enjoy your first excursion and night drive into the park.

Days 2-7

Luangwa National Park

You will spend your days exploring South Luangwa National Park, accompanied by your expert guides Jonathan Scott and Michael Lorentz, as well as representatives from local conservation organisations and a team of astronomers, videographers and researchers. South Luangwa National Park is one of the most renowned wildlife sanctuaries in Africa, home to lions, leopards, elephants and over 400 species of birds. Mfuwe Lodge, your home for the duration of your safari, also has its own resident family of elephants, who can sometimes be seen walking directly through the lodge reception! Each day will bring different experiences, as you head off into the park in search of some of the abundant wildlife and unique photographic opportunities in the morning after a light breakfast. Returning to camp for a ‘siesta’ in the afternoon, you can relax and unwind in the lodge’s spa or pool, before heading out on another game drive in the evening. Your guides will be on hand to provide hands-on photographic advice, and you will also have the opportunity to listen to talks by conservation organisations such as the Zambia Carnivore Programme, study the stars with a team of astronomers, and visit the local community projects.

Day 8

Depart Luangwa

Today you will bid farewell to your guides and transfer to Mfuwe Airport for your flight back to Lusaka, in time for your international flight home.
