Day by day

Day by day

Day 1

Arrive Entebbe - Karibu Guest House

On your arrival into Entebbe you will be met and transferred to Karibu Guest House. Please note that Entebbe Airport is currently undergoing expansion and it can seem a little chaotic and make it harder for you and your guide to meet. You will need to exit the arrivals area after you pass through immigration and make your way to the courtyard where you will see some canopy tents; your guide will be waiting here, holding a sign with your name on. Spend the remainder of the day relaxing, or if you prefer, you can arrange with your guide to go out and explore some of the highlights of Entebbe.

D

Day 2

Entebbe - Bwindi Impenetrable National Park

This morning you will be collected from Karibu Guest House and transferred to the airport for your light aircraft flight to the Kihihi Airstrip. You will be met on arrival and driven the 1 hour transfer to Bwindi Lodge. Upon arrival you will be introduced to the lodge and shown to your room. This afternoon you will have a chance to relax, admire the views over the forest and prepare for your gorilla tracking in the morning.

Overnight: Bwindi Lodge (B, L, D)

Day 3

Gorilla Tracking in Bwindi Impenetrable Forest

Today you set off on your gorilla tracking expedition. You will be briefed at the headquarters before setting off into the forests (please note you may have to be driven to the trail head depending on which gorilla family is allocated to you). The mountain gorillas in Bwindi are part of a worldwide population of just 700. The gorillas we are allowed to track belong to one of three habituated family groups. The time taken to track the gorillas varies enormously, from as little as half an hour to as much as 8 hours. Once the gorillas are located, the group will be allowed a maximum of one hour with them. This is one of the world's truly memorable experiences - a look into one of these magnificent creatures' eyes brings home the bond that exists between them and us. Tracking the mountain gorillas is an awe-inspiring experience and as you come across them in their forest surroundings all thought of fatigue disappears! The hour is often over all too quickly, and you slowly make your way back to the lodge.

Overnight: Bwindi Lodge (B, L, D)

Day 4

Second Gorilla Tracking Experience in Bwindi Impenetrable Forest

Your second day of gorilla tracking. A fantastic experience and one that we recommend you make the most of. Ideally try and spend as little time today behind the lens of your camera as possible so you can fully appreciate this once in a lifetime experience. This evening relax back at your lodge and reminisce on the adventures of the last few days.

Overnight: Bwindi Lodge (B, L, D)

Day 5

Bwindi Impenetrable National Park - Masai Mara

Today, at a time to be advised locally, you will be transferred to the airstrip for your light aircraft flight back to Entebbe. On arrival you will be assisted onto your connecting flight to the Masai Mara. Upon landing into the Olare Orok Airstrip you will be met by your guide and game driven to Kicheche Bush Camp. On arriving at the camp you will be briefed on your safari before being shown to your tent.

Overnight: Kicheche Bush Camp (B, L, D)

Days 6-7

On safari at Kicheche Bush Camp

Enjoy exploring the Olare Motorogi Conservancy on game drives as well as having the opportunity to venture into the main Masai Mara Reserve, which we highly recommend during migration season, although you will appreciate the advantage of staying in a private conservancy and escaping the crowds afterwards. The game viewing here is superb (which explains why so many professional wildlife photographers take up residence here) with plenty of big cats and plains game alike to go in search of, rhino are rare, but elephant and buffalo are regularly seen. To get a different perspective on the bush it is also well worth going on at least one walking safari and for those interested in the local culture, we recommend visit the Maa Trust to learn more about Maasai life.

Overnight: Kicheche Bush Camp (B, L, D)

Day 8

Masai Mara - Lewa

Today, at a time to be advised locally, you will be game driven to the Olare Orok Airstrip in time for your light aircraft flight to the Lewa Downs Airstrip. Upon landing you will be met by your guide who will game drive you to Borana Lodge. On arrival at the lodge you will be briefed on your stay before being shown to your cottage. Relax for the rest of the day or embark on your first safari activity.

One of the highlights of stay at Borana is the range of safari activities on offer as well as much more. You will be able to go on twice-daily game drives in open safari vehicles as well as being taken on walking safaris, horse riding safaris (no prior riding experience necessary), mountain bike safaris and more. The nature of Borana's land being private guarantees a private and exclusive safari experience in the area that inspired the Lion King. The rhino population here is amongst one of the healthiest on the continent thanks to sustained conservation efforts and there are also some interesting community initiatives which are worth visiting.

B, L, D

Day 11

Lewa - Nairobi

Today, at a time to be advised locally, you will be driven to the Lewa Downs Airstrip in time for your light aircraft to Nairobi Wilson Airport. Upon arrival at Nairobi Wilson you will be met by your private driver and driven to the Ole Sereni Hotel. Day 13

Victoria Falls

Known also by its indigenous name, Mosi-oa-Tunya 'the smoke that thunders', Victoria Falls is classified as the largest waterfall in the world, with a width of 1.25 miles. A visit to the Falls is a highlight of anyone's safari in Southern Africa and the area is a hub for water and land-based activities. Visit the breathtaking Victoria Falls or, for an aerial view, why not try a helicopter flight over the Falls. Alternatives include white water rafting, a visit to the national park, a sunset cruise, to name a few! Most activities can be booked upon arrival, however it is advised to book helicopter flights in advance. When not exploring the area, kick back at your accommodation.

Victoria Falls - Chobe National Park

You will be picked up from the Victoria Falls Hotel for the transfer across the border to Botswana. Upon arrival at the border you will have to present yourself at immigration, and walk a short way with your bags to change vehicles. Depending on the time of arrival, there may be time for an afternoon sunset cruise on the river or game drive.

Day 15

On safari at Chobe Game Lodge

During your stay at Chobe Game Lodge you will be able to enjoy twice-daily safari activities. You will be treated to early morning and late afternoon game drives which follow the course of the Chobe River. The park is famed for its huge elephant herds but there is plenty more to be seen with buffalo, giraffe, puku, lion, wild dog and leopard all found in the region. The safari vehicles are open which make them perfect for photography. You cannot visit Chobe without going on at least one river cruise and the lodge's 'skimmer boats' accommodate 12 guests with plenty of opportunities for photographing wildlife with elephant seen along the river bank, hippos in the lagoons and plenty of plains game coming to the water to drink. Of course, with so much activity, predators are never far away either, making for some fantastic interactions.

Overnight: Chobe Game Lodge (B, L, D)

Day 16

Chobe National Park - Okavango Delta

On arrival you will be met and introduced to the camp and enjoy lunch and a rest before going out on your first safari activity.

B, L, D

On safari at Camp Okavango

Thanks to its location on permanent water in the Okavango Delta, Camp Okavango is primarily focussed on water activities with guests exploring the waterways of the Delta on boat cruises accompanied by experienced guides.
