This beautiful 11 day safari explores the wildlife rich Ngorongoro Crater and famous Northern Serengeti, before flying to Rwanda to track the magnificent mountain gorillas. Staying in fantastic accommodation throughout, and offering some of Africa's best wildlife experiences, this is a wonderful safari for those who want to see the best bits. This highlights safari can also be done in reverse, starting in Rwanda, giving you the option of a beach extension to the stunning Tanzanian Coast or 'spice island' of Zanzibar for a bit of relaxation after your adventure.

What makes this trip extraordinary?

  • Combine the big game and big cats of Tanzania with the mountain gorillas of Rwanda.
  • See the ‘big five’ on game drives in the Ngorongoro Crater.
  • Witness the dramatic Great Wildebeest Migration river crossings at the Mara River in the Northern Serengeti (mid-July – November).
  • Track the endangered mountain gorillas in Rwanda twice.

An extraordinary safari that combines the great migration, gorilla tracking, and the big game of the Ngorongoro Crater in Tanzania.

The majestic landscape of the northern Serengeti is one of the best kept secrets of Tanzania. Far from the tourist track, this area of open grasslands and riverine woodlands supports some of the densest grazer populations in East Africa. The next two days activities may be amongst the most exciting and challenging of our entire expedition. The Mountain Gorillas in Volcanoes National Park are part of a worldwide population of just 790 individuals. The gorillas we are allowed to track belong to one of ten habituated family groups, and you will have two chances to track them. For up to five years each, these groups have undergone an extremely delicate process that has gradually brought them to tolerate the presence of humans for a brief period every day and allowed a few privileged visitors to interact with them in the wild.

Overnight: Five Volcanoes Boutique Hotel B, L, D

Day 10

Volcanoes National Park - Kigali

This morning, enjoy tracking the golden monkeys and spend up to an hour with these cheeky critters before transferring back to Kigali for your international flight home.
