Share breakfast with residents of high stature at Kenya's famous Giraffe Manor, before travelling to two private game reserves and arguably Africa's most famous safari region, the Masai Mara.
There are few places in the world that offer what can be confidently termed a "unique" wildlife experience, but Kenya's Giraffe Manor – which sits in the country's capital city, Nairobi – is one such place. A retinue of resident Rothschild's giraffes live in the lap of luxury here at this boutique hotel, where guests can enjoy second-floor meals alongside the wildlife; just keep an eye on your fries! Following these intimate encounters, this safari will take you to the famous Masai Mara National Park by way of the West Gate Conservancy and Solio Reserve, where you'll be able to spot a profusion of iconic African wildlife.
On arrival at Nairobi’s Jomo Kenyatta International Airport you will be met by our local representative and taken to Giraffe Manor. Also in the welcoming committee will be the hotel's resident Rothschild's giraffes, who roam the grounds surrounding this classic manor house. The giraffes are completely wild but enjoy being fed by our guests, making this an experience unlike any other in the world. After lunch you can visit the Giraffe Centre located within the Manor’s grounds or take a trip to the David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust, where you can see orphaned elephants and rhinos. The Karen Blixen Museum offers a glimpse into the life of the author of the infamous book 'Out of Africa', and en-route you will have a chance to purchase gifts from local designers and artisans.
Overnight: Giraffe Manor (D)
After an enchanting breakfast with the giraffes at Giraffe Manor, you will be transferred to Wilson Airport for a 1hr 20min flight to the West Gate Conservancy. Once you've touched down, a short transfer will take you to Sasaab Camp in time for lunch. Enjoy the sumptuous cuisine and then decide how you wish to spend the next two days: exploring the wild, fly camping outdoors, taking a ride on a camel through the wilderness or simply relaxing at the luxurious spa. The hilly terrain in Samburu land in the north of Kenya is different to other parts of the country. Here you’ll find the Samburu Special Five – Grevy’s zebra, reticulated giraffe, Somali ostrich, gerenuk and Beisa oryx. During your stay at Sasaab, guests are offered a glimpse into Samburu life, learning about their traditions and culture.
Overnight: Sasaab Camp (B, L, D)
From the Sasaab Airstrip, take a short 20-minute private charter flight to Solio Lodge, in the north of Kenya. The wildlife is easy to view here, with large numbers of lions, rhinos and other plains game, and the lodge offers plenty of exciting activities. You’ll find horse riding, trekking and trout fishing in Aberdare National Park and fantastic views of Mount Kenya from the lodge or a helicopter. Large numbers of black and white rhinoceros are found on the reserve who live alongside the big cats, other wildlife and indigenous exotic birds.
An authentic safari experience awaits at Sala's Camp, with friendliness, hospitality and fine dining. From Solio Lodge you will be transferred to Nanyuki Airport to catch a scheduled flight to the Masai Mara, with a game drive thrown in en-route. The Masai Mara is Africa’s most famous safari region. The drives are usually arranged early in the morning and late in the evening to capture the animals at their busiest. You can book a bush lunch and head further into the Mara to find the wildlife in the most remote corners of the park. Back at the camp, you can take local walks, play volleyball or simply relax and enjoy the view from the hammock outside your tent. You'll also end each day with evening game drives accompanied by sundowners.
After breakfast at Sala’s Camp you’ll catch a flight from the Masai Mara to Nairobi Wilson Airport. You will be met by our local representative at Wilson Airport who will then transfer you to Jomo Kenyatta International Airport for your flight home.
