Track western lowland gorillas & mangabey monkeys, observe shy forest elephants and wildlife, such as the rare sitatunga & bongo antelope. You can also join the Ba’Aka tribe on a net hunt and try the locally made, naturally fermenting wines. This journey is for the truly intrepid traveller, with long transfers and long treks, but all made worthwhile by the amazing opportunities and experiences that you will find only here. The Central African Republic is a developing country, so bear in mind that the infrastructure is not that of Kenya or Botswana, for example, but this is all part of experiencing this wild part of the world.

Day by day

Day 1

Bangui - Ngotto

Upon arrival into Bangui M’Poko International Airport (BGF), the capital of the Central African Republic, you are met by your professional private driver, guide, and private vehicle. From here, you travel about 5 hours (200km) west of Bangui to Ngotto and onto the Ile du Buffle-Rouge. Time permitting, there may be opportunities to enjoy canoe trips on the river to view the resident hippos as well as enjoying primate, bird, flora, fauna, fungi, & butterfly walks through the forest and by the river’s edge. You may also be able to join an escorted bike ride.

Day 2

Ngotto - Dzanga/Nouabale Ndoki NP

Today you travel eight to twelve hours south by car, arriving to Dzanga-Sangha/Nouable-Ndoki National Park in time for a late dinner. Take some time out to relax and absorb your new surroundings before venturing out again tomorrow for the start of the wildlife portion of your safari.

Days 3-8

Dzanga/Nouabale Ndoki NP

Spend your days marvelling at the forest wildlife of this truly unique region. From forest elephants excavating the dramatic forest bais to lowland gorillas patrolling the forest fringes, this is a truly remarkable experience. Forming one of the only areas that you can track habituated lowland gorillas in the wild, the CAR is not for the everyday traveller, but is a true adventure wildlife enthusiast's paradise.

Day 9

Dzanga NP - Bangui

Today, you journey the long distance, by road with your professional private French speaking driver/guide and your private 4x4 vehicle, back to Bangui enjoying a picnic lunch en-route. You are driven back to the Residence JM (or similar) where you stay for the night (an approx. 12 hour drive, but could take up to 17 hours if weather or road conditions are poor).

Day 10

Depart Bangui

This morning, you transfer back to Bangui M’Poko International Airport (BGF) in order to meet your international flight back home.
