Starting in Botswana’s Okavango Delta, journey through the heart of this diverse continent to Zambia, Malawi and Tanzania, staying in luxury camps, lodges and houseboats in the best areas for wildlife. The vast savannah grasslands are often best viewed from the air, but you will also explore in-depth on game drives, walking and boat safaris as you search for the ‘big five’ and other wildlife. Day by day

Day 1

Kasane – Okavango Delta

After your arrival in Kasane, Botswana, you will board your executive Cessna Grand Caravan for a scenic, low-lying flight over the Chobe River and on towards the Okavango Delta. This is fantastic way to see the wetlands of the delta, watching the herds of giraffe, elephants and buffalo wandering below. After arriving at your camp in a remote area of the delta, you will have the rest of the day to enjoy the reserve and the activities on offer.

Day 2

Okavango Delta

The Okavango Delta is one of the best areas in Africa for big game viewing, and you will enjoy a morning, afternoon and evening game drive by specially adapted vehicle or makoro, when the animals of the delta are at their most active. Travelling by makoro, a traditional dugout canoe, is the definitive experience of the Okavango and is a relaxing way to view the multitude of wildlife that can be seen along the river banks.

Day 3

Okavango Delta - Chobe National Park

After breakfast and a final morning game drive you will fly to Victoria Falls where you will transfer to your house boat, the Chobe Princess. Visit Impalila Island, located at the confluence of the Chobe and Zambezi Rivers where Namibia Botswana, Zambia and Zimbabwe meet. In the evening, head out for a game drive in Chobe National Park or enjoy a sunset cruise along the Chobe River.

Day 4

Chobe National Park

Explore the waterways of Chobe National Park by boat, witnessing huge herds of elephants come to drink along with buffalo, giraffe, leopard, lion and the endemic Chobe bush buck. In the evening, cruise along the river under the African sunset while drinking a refreshing sundowner.

Day 5

Chobe National Park - South Luangwa National Park

This morning you will fly north through Lusaka to South Luangwa National Park, Zambia. South Luangwa is the birthplace of the walking safari and has one of the highest concentrations of wildlife in Africa, with over 60 mammal and 400 bird species in the park. On arrival you will be transferred to your camp for lunch, after which you can head out on an afternoon game drive.

Day 6

South Luangwa National Park

Spend a full day on walking safaris and game drives around this wildlife-rich area of South Luangwa National Park. Walking safaris in the Luangwa Valley are one of the most exciting ways to explore this unique ecosystem, and your expert guides will take you through some of Zambia's most untouched wilderness in search of elephants, leopards and other wildlife. Spend the evening with a sundowner overlooking the river or around the campfire.

Day 7

South Luangwa National Park - Lake Malawi

After breakfast at camp you will board your plane and fly north to Likoma Island, set within the clear waters of Lake Malawi and dotted with ancient baobab trees. On arrival you will be taken to your luxurious lakeside accommodation, where the rest of the day is yours to relax and enjoy the stunning scenery.

Day 8

Lake Malawi - Ruaha National Park

Depart Likoma Island today and fly north along the shores of Lake Malawi, coming to land in Ruaha National Park, the largest national park in Tanzania. Ruaha is incredible biodiverse, with large herds of elephant, giraffe, zebra and impala a common sight and healthy populations of predators such as lion. Transfer to your camp on the banks of the Ifuguru River before heading out for a game drive in the park.

Day 9

Ruaha National Park

Ruaha National Park has a unique wildlife species composition, where northern and southern African mammals converge. Wildlife you are likely to see on a game drive in the park include elephant, buffalo, giraffe, zebra, impala, lion and leopard. Spend your evening with a sundowner back at camp.

Day 10

Ruaha National Park - Selous Game Reserve

After your final game drive and a hearty breakfast at camp, return to the airstrip for your flight north to Selous Game Reserve. Selous is the largest game reserve in Africa, encompassing a vast area of unspoilt wilderness which is home to diverse wildlife including more than 50% of wild dogs in Africa. You will be met on arrival and taken to camp, from where you will head out on a game drive or boat cruise in the reserve.

Days 11-12

Selous Game Reserve

Over the next few days you will explore Selous Game Reserve by foot, boat or vehicle, learning about the complex ecosystem of Africa's largest wilderness. Selous is the best place in Africa to see endangered African wild dog, and other wildlife includes lion, leoaprd, elephant, kudu, buffalo and numerous bird species. You can also take a boat safari along the Rufiji River, looking out for pods of hippo and crocodiles.

Day 13

Selous Game Reserve - Dar es Salaam - Depart

After breakfast this morning you will fly to Dar es Salaam, where you will transfer to the international airport for your onward flight. Please note: it is also possible to depart from Nairobi.
