A unique chimp trekking safari in western Tanzania's dramatic Mahale Mountains. Look forward to exploring a far-flung destination with dhow sailing, fishing on the gin-clear waters of Lake Tanganyika and meeting the Mahale chimpanzees, on their turf.
After your strenuous trek to track the chimpanzees you will return to one of Africa’s most iconic lodges, Greystoke Mahale. Strung along a private beach and tucked into the forest, Greystoke has everything you could possibly wish for. From superb guides and hosts, comfortable beds and sumptuous cuisine, to rain showers and a well-stocked library, let yourself be transported far from reality.
Nomad Tanzania is one of Tanzania’s original safari companies who, over the last 20 years, have been running pioneering safari camps in remote locations throughout the country. They have a true passion for the African bush and have carefully trained their knowledgeable and dedicated guides to share this passion with their guests. All the Nomad Tanzania lodges we use focus on location, superb guiding and a close proximity to wildlife always with a flair for the creature comforts that make safaris so unforgettable.
The Nomad Trust directly supports their own project in the Mahale Mountains, as well as working closely with established and vital projects throughout the country. Mahale lies at the edge of the world and the communities here rely on fishing and agriculture for their income. Education is a privilege and opportunities for earning an income are few and far between. The Nomad Trust has supported the Katumbi Village for many years, raising funds to provide for the needs of the local school and the small clinic. By staying at Greystoke Mahale you will know you are contributing to the future of the communities surrounding the area of Lake Tanganyika and Mahale Mountains, and by way of education – the chimpanzees and this fragile ecosystem at the same time.
The trip value is £8,050 based on the cost of two persons sharing, excluding international flights.
