about rungus longhouse, northern borneo

The Rungus Longhouse offers you the opportunity to really experience local life, right on the beautiful northern tip of Borneo. In the heartland of the Rungus  here you can enjoy the rich Rungus culture in the jungle environment, a truly unique experience and often the highlight of the safari.

The longhouse is a traditional form of tribal housing that would house entire communities under one roof, with a large communal area where the residents would socialise daily.

Accommodation & Facilities

The 12 rooms are basic, clean and safe and beds have comfortable mattresses and mosquito nets. Showers are communal with a few on the premises and there are western style toilets for that added bit of comfort. The focus here is on communal living, so relax and enjoy your time with the local people. By no means expect luxury, but for a night you will be comfortable enough.

There is no hot water here, but the weather is often humid and a cooling shower can be quite refreshing!

Depending on how many guests are staying at the time, they try to cater to individuals but will usually put on a buffet spread when there are lots of guests.

Enjoy some traditional music and dance with the locals, and they always try to get everyone involved and having fun. Make sure you try the rice wine, although beware – it's strong!

Child Policy

Children are welcome.
