Kapani Lodge

About Kapani Lodge, South Luangwa Valley

Kapani Lodge is set on one of many oxbow lakes on the Luangwa River in South Luangwa Valley and is one of the more exclusive lodges accommodating 20 guests. There are 8 suites each with ensuite facilities and their own lounge area and then there a further 2 “lagoon houses” which are more spacious and with private views. The Lagoon Houses are ideal for honeymoon couples or guests looking for a bit more privacy. The main thatched area houses the lounge and library and is pleasantly cool during the heat of the day and is warmed by an open fire during the cooler winter nights. The bar and dining area have fantastic views across the lagoon and grazing lawn. Some guests choose to remain in camp rather than go on game drives, just to see what animals happen to stroll into or past camp!

This camp has amazing game viewing year round.

Accommodation & Facilities

The 8 semi detached standard rooms are very comfortable and laid out over open lawns overlooking the lagoon. They include a seating area, large twin beds, or a double, with a walk in mosquito net and a small, well decorated, en-suite bathroom. Rooms also include a mini bar, tea and coffee making facilities, ceiling fan, wooden desk and a canvas wardrobe. The Lagoon Suite is ideal for either families or honeymooners, it is much larger and, although it is styled the same as the standard rooms, it comes with luxury extras such as a large veranda with lagoon views, huge king size bed and a sunken bath.

Rooms are set out either side of the main lounge area, this then leads down to the main deck where you will find the bar and seating area, ideal for sharing the days stories over a refreshing drink. There is also a separate lounge area with comfortable armchairs and sofas scattered around a warming stone fireplace. Facilities also include a curio shop, swimming pool and child minding (done by house keeping).

Food here is consistently good and the lodge is full board. Dinners can be served outdoors on the deck or by the pool, private dinners can be arranged on request.

Day and night game drives here are fantastic with prolific game to be found. Walking safaris can be arranged on request and can be combined with other camps. There is also the option of visiting the local village or community project.

Child Policy

Children of all ages are welcome. Child minding can be arranged and there is a limited amount of high chairs. Still bear in mind that the lodge is unfenced and therefore potentially dangerous and children should be supervised at all times.
