Accommodation & Facilities
There are three types of self-contained villas at Unguja Lodge; seven sea view villas, three baobab villas and two family villas. The sea view villas are just a few steps away from the crystal clear seas and are perfect for honeymooners. The baobab villas face inland and boast their own plunge pool in the private garden. Each of the traditional thatched roof villas are en-suite and both the sea view and baobab villas have their own loft space with a day bed perfect for relaxing after a delicious lunch.
Within the lodge there is a refreshing swimming pool surrounded by loungers as well as a fully stocked bar perfect for relaxing with a sundowner. The beautiful surroundings are full of a wide range of wildlife and within the tropical gardens there are a number of spectacular baobab trees.
There is free Wi-Fi available throughout the lodge and there is also an on-site laundry service.
The breakfast at Unguja is served in a buffet style with fresh fruits, cereals and pastries available; cooked breakfasts are available upon request. Lunch options including sandwiches, salads and a few hot dishes. Dinner is a three course meal often using Swahili recipes with a European twist- a particular treat is the barbeques. Ingredients are mostly locally sourced including the fresh fish.
At Unguja’s own on-site diving centre you have the opportunity to take part in a PADI course. Directly in front of the lodge is a ‘house reef’ within swimming distance - the only lodge in Zanzibar to have this! There are also a number of deeper reefs just a short boat ride away.
The lodge arranges a number of activities including guided village walks, spice tours as well as trips to Stone Town. There is enough on offer to keep you as busy as you want to be- or there’s always the loungers by the pool which is a wonderful place to read a book and enjoy a refreshing drink.
All children are welcome at Unguja Lodge and there are child minding facilities available. We recommend that you give notice if you wish to use one of the cots or highchairs- as they are limited.
