Chaka Camp

About Chaka Camp, Ndutu

This is a mobile camp, moving between Ndutu in the Ngorongoro area, and the northern Serengeti to follow the great migration. From December to March, Chaka Camp is in Ndutu, where the migration comes in and out, bringing with it a fascinating array of big cats and other predators and scavengers.

Then from late May to October, it is close to the Mara River, in an excellent spot to see numerous river crossings as the migration travels between Tanzania and Kenya. River crossings are a dramatic time to see the migration, and you will often see crocodiles and hippos.

For some all-round excellent game viewing in the Serengeti, we recommend combining Chaka Camp with its sister camp, Kiota, located in the Central Serengeti.

Accommodation & Facilities

Each of the ten safari tents are en-suite, with a front that opens out on to your own veranda. In your tent you will find a writing desk, and electric lighting (solar powered) with UK plug points. Fabrics are hand-woven, African designs.

There are separate dining and lounge tents, as well as a bar and a small library, and a firepit to share stories around at the end of the day.

Wake each morning to tea and coffee on your veranda. The chef here has eight years’ experience, so you can expect excellent cuisine throughout your stay, and most dietary requirements can be accommodation – but you must tell us in advance, as the camp is remote.

From the camp, you can embark on wild game drives, bush breakfasts and dinners, as well as private dining under the stars. We can also arrange balloon safaris, walking safaris, Masai cultural visits and, when you’re in Ndutu, you can visit Olduvai Gorge.

Child Policy

Children are welcome at Chaka Camp, but those aged 12 years and under, must stay with an adult.
