Lodge details

Style

A well-appointed, specially adapted desert lodge.

Setting

In the heart of the Namib Desert, this is the closest lodge to the Dune Sea and has a private gate for early access, beating the crowds. Access is via fly-in or self-drive.

Accommodation & Facilities

The thatched rooms here are known as kulala's, which means ‘to sleep’ in Oshiwambo. They are built on wooden platforms, catching the cooling breezes during the summer months, with polished wooden floors and 2 queen sized or a large double bed. The walls are made of canvas, and built into the ‘tent’ is a brick and clay en-suite bathroom. Venturing outside your room you will find a step ladder leading to the flat roof top where you are welcome to sleep out under the stars, a particularly special experience.

The main area has a lounge, bar, dining area, plunge pool and wrap around veranda with views over a waterhole, which attracts local wildlife such as jackals and gemsbok.

Dining

Food is in a home-cooked style and an early snack can be provided for those heading out too early for breakfast!

Activities

Popular activities include 4x4 drives into the dunes of Sossusvlei and Deadvlei; if you join this guided excursion you avoid the busy crowds as Sesriem Gate. You can also go on guided and un-guided walking trails and sundowner drives on the nature reserve. It is possible to explore yourself if you are on a self-drive safari and don’t wish to join a guided excursion. It is also possible to take an early morning balloon flight over the desert, followed by a champagne breakfast.

Child Policy

Children welcome. Please note that they are your responsibility whilst staying at the lodge.
