Etendeka Mountain Camp

About Etendeka Mountain Camp

Having been owner run for over 2 years, Etendeka Mountain Camp is an exceptional safari camp, kept small, rustic and relatively simple by today’s standard of safari camp. Guests sleep in tents, surrounded by the dramatic scenery of north Damaraland, bringing you close to the desert adapted plants and animals of the rocky Namib Desert.

Here you can completely detach yourself from modern living and reconnect to a place that time appears to have forgotten.

With just ten tents, you are guaranteed personal attention and a relaxed atmosphere with hosts Barbara and Dennis Liebenberg and Bonny Awarab.

Accommodation & Facilities

Tents are walk-in with canvas roofs, simply laid out with twin beds, a small table and luggage racks. They have directors chairs too, which you can place out the front of your tent and absorb your surroundings. En-suite bathrooms are open to the sky, but completely private, closed in on all sides; they each have a bucket shower, washbasin and a flush toilet.

The dining area has a fully inclusive bar; this is where guests congregate to share the stories of the day.

Dining

You will dine with the other guests and the food is wonderful. A stay here is fully inclusive.

Activities

Your hosts know the area extremely well and their passion will come across in each of your activities throughout your stay. You can do nature & game drives, however the highlights are the walks. Exploring by foot here is fascinating and there are a range of different landscapes to explore, one walk, known as the Quartz Walk, is peppered with quartz and agates.

At night, sit around the camp fire and learn about the cosmos.
