Lodge Details
Style
An intimate, luxury camp.
Setting
Tau Pan Camp is located inside the world famous Central Kalahari Game Reserve - the largest game reserve in the world. Situated right on the edge of the beautiful Tau Pan, the camp affords fantastic views of a permanent watering hole and the stunning Kalahari horizon.
Accommodation & Facilities
Blending in seamlessly with its environment, Tau Pan Camp consists of seven double/twins tents, plus one family tent. Set under thatch, all rooms are solar powered and include fans, outside showers and private viewing decks.
The central area houses the dining room and lounge, leading to a game-viewing deck. Other facilities planned include a swimming pool, library and curio shop. The camp also has an elevated sleepout deck, complete with a double bed, basin and WC, where guests can take in an unobstructed view of the night sky. The almost complete lack of light pollution here in the Kalahari makes for an incredible stargazing experience.
Dining
Food served at Tau Pan Camp is excellent and includes breakfast before your first game drive, brunch, a buffet lunch and a very substantial dinner – usually consisting of three courses. Excellent group meals are served in the camp’s communal dining area, with after-dinner coffee and night caps taken beside the campfire.
Activities
Game drives operate open 4x4 vehicles, with guided walks also on offer. Guests can also choose to explore the wilderness with the indigenous inhabitants of the area, the San Bushmen. You'll learn about how the San used to live nomadically: how they used to hunt, gather food, find water sources, and locate plants that were used for medicinal purposes. Their wealth of true bush knowledge is unparalleled.
Please note that Tau Pan is in a national park and an ecological sensitive area – for this reason there is no off road or night driving.
Child Policy
Children over 12 years old are treated as adults, 6 -12 year olds are also welcome but private vehicles must be booked. Children under 6 are welcome if exclusive use of the camp is booked.
